Jodrell Bank Cottages

Location: Jodrell Bank, Cheshire
Type: Residential Development
Stage: Design Stage

This project consisted of the design of two new dwellings to be constructed on the site of a former car garage/petrol station close to Jodrell Bank Radio Telescope in Cheshire. The two new dwellings were to sit alongside an existing dwelling. The dwellings were designed to be mirrors of each other and follow a simple vernacular architecture, with a largely rectangular plan, brick walls and pitched clay tiled roof. At ground floor, the properties had both cellular and open plan living spaces, with three bedrooms provided at first floor level. Beyond the dwellings themselves, the landscaping was to be used to help provide screening to the site, while enriching the wider landscape with the introduction of native species tree and hedge planting.
